The Message is a 1976 Islamic epic drama film directed and produced by Moustapha Akkad. It tells the story of the Islamic prophet Muhammad through the eyes of his uncle Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib and adopted son Zayd ibn Harithah.

The Message is an introduction to early Islamic history that was released in both Arabic and English-language versions. Anthony Quinn, Irene Papas, Michael Ansara, Johnny Sekka, Michael Forest, André Morell, Garrick Hagon, Damien Thomas, and Martin Benson are among the international ensemble cast members. Libya, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria, and the United Kingdom collaborated on the production.
Maurice Jarre’s score was nominated for Best Original Score at the 50th Academy Awards, however it was defeated by Star Wars (composed by John Williams). Muammar al-Gaddafi, Libya’s then-leader, donated the majority of the funds.
