The epic historical fiction drama film Kingdom of Heaven was produced and directed by Ridley Scott in 2005. It was written by William MonahanKingdom_of_Heaven_(film)It features Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Edward Norton, Marton Csokas, Liam Neeson, Michael Sheen, Velibor Topi, and Alexander Siddig in addition to Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Ghassan Massoud, and Jeremy Irons.

The story takes place in the 12th-century Crusades. The Kingdom of Jerusalem is defended by a French village blacksmith against Saladin, the Ayyubid Muslim Sultan, who is battling to retake the city from the Christians. This leads to the Battle of Hattin. The life of Balian of Ibelin is substantially fictionalised in the screenplay (c. 1143–93).

Scott previously filmed Gladiator (2000) and Black Hawk Down (2001) in Ouarzazate, Morocco, and in Spain at the Loarre Castle (Huesca), Segovia, vila, Palma del Ro, and Seville’s Casa de Pilatos and Alcázar. [5] [6] 20th Century Fox released the movie on May 6, 2005, and it opened to mixed reviews in theatres. It brought in $218 million globally. A director’s edit of the movie, which Scott published on December 23, 2005, was hailed by critics and was referred to as the final cut by many. [7] [8]
